An art talk with Jono Terry and renowned writer and Journalist Austin Kaluba at Everyday Lusaka Gallery, following the opening of Terryβs debut solo exhibition in Zambia entitled βBetween Two Shoresβ curated by Sana Ginwalla.
In βBetween Two Shoresβ, Terry sensitively captures the loss of ancestral land, including burial grounds that irreparably changed not only social fabrics that held people together, but also the ecosystem as they knew it. As a white Zimbabwean descended from British settlers, Terry occupies a complex position from which to examine questions of history, belonging, and inherited responsibility.
The talk will be an opportunity to converse with the artist before his departure from Zambia and learn more about the conception of this seminal project.
